Antartica??

Lake Michigan has fared about as well as the rest of the north in these last few weeks. It is frozen up like a giant ice cube, with a few liquid spots left hanging in for fun!

For a lovely afternoon activity I highly recommend taking a stroll out onto the undulous surface. Stacy and I scooted our way out a fair ways to see the edge of the frozen mass and peer at the glumps (yes 'g'. clumps just isn't sufficient) of snow and ice that are forming behind the massive ice breaker. It must be what it feels like in Antartica when the ice starts to flow again. It is howlingly cold, with snow buzzing past you at too many miles an hour, but it is also hauntingly beautiful. We spent about 40 minutes exploring (I have now been told it is dangerous to walk out onto this frozen surface...) and walked back to our car mostly numb.

This adventure gets four thumbs up. Yes, both mine and Stacy's! We are happy to have them!
